The KBS2 spy drama “Iris” drew its curtain on December 17 with tragic ending where both male protagonists died.

Enjoying great popularity with average ratings of 27 percent, the drama has been the talk of the town throughout its airing. Although towards the end of the series a scandal involving one of the main stars broke out, even that event could not overshadow its achievements.

It has also served as an opportunity for its stars to show different sides of themselves, although not all of them managed to receive rave reviews.

Then who won or lost by appearing in the drama?

The August 2 episode of “The Iron Empress” featured kissing between King Mokjong (Lee In) and his secretary of general affairs, Yu Haeng-gan (Park Jin-woo).

King Mokjong executed Queen Yoseok (Lee Tae-im), whom he loved, when he learned that she had become pregnant with another man’s baby. This changed him; he had been trying to work hard for the people, but now he felt depressed and lost his enthusiasm. To forget his distress, he asked Yu Haeng-gan to obtain drugs for him.

Supporting actors appearing in local dramas have begun unleashing their charms, and more viewers are starting to recognize their presence.

MBC’s hit drama “The Great Queen Seondeok” boasts a lineup of interesting characters surrounding the main character, Deok-man, played by Lee Yo-won, who later becomes the first queen in Korea’s history.

In the episode of the drama “He Who Cannot Marry” that aired July 6 under the sub-title “Responsibility and Its Heaviness,” the single man Jae-hee (played by Ji Jin-hee) and the single woman Moon-jung (played by Uhm Jung-hwa) bonded by taking care of a puppy.

 One of the viewers of the KBS TV2 drama “He Who Can’t Marry” has recently written that she was surprised by its main male character, Cho Jae-hee, who is played by actor Ji Jin-hee. So far, Ji has mostly played gentle and smart men, but this time he has been transformed into a narrow-minded old bachelor, whom he portrays in a comical way. The viewer said she had no idea Ji could portray comical roles and that they suited him perfectly.
